Sgoil Gàidhlig Bhaile an Taigh Mhóir
is excited to announce
the addition of Cailín Lynk to the faculty
Cailín Lynk joined the faculty of Sgoil Gàidhlig Bhaile an Taigh Mhóir in February 2021. Cailín is a Gaelic speaker from Glace Bay, Cape Breton living in Halifax.
She currently sits on the board for Comhairle na Gàidhlig/The Gaelic Council of Nova Scotia and is the co-chair of her local Gaelic language society, Sgoil Ghàidhlig an Àrd-Bhaile, in Halifax. Cailín has been a dedicated learner of the Gaelic language for years now, reaching fluency by attending community classes and events around the province, including completing a month long live-in immersion at Colaisde na Gàidhlig in Cape Breton – a place she considers a home away from home. On top of teaching various Gaelic song workshops and private language classes, performing at local events as a Gaelic singer and storyteller, and acting in Gaelic short films, Cailín has also worked two terms with Language in Lyrics – a project dedicated to creating a comprehensive database of Gaelic songs of Nova Scotia.
Cailín is extremely passionate about Gaelic language, culture, and song, a passion that was no doubt inherited from her Gaelic speaking grandmother who loved nothing more than to sing in the kitchen with her siblings when Cailín’s father was growing up. Cailín is excited to share this love of Gaelic by joining Sgoil Gàidhlig Bhaile an Taigh Mhóir as a Gaelic instructor.
